and Writing Comes to Life!

I help teachers and homeschooling families strengthen students’ reading and writing skills through high-quality resources and enrichment strategies that go beyond the standard curriculum.
Resources
Picture books aren’t just for little kids—they’re powerful tools for sparking critical thinking, meaningful conversations, and strong writing skills at any age. Whether you’re a teacher looking to deepen a lesson or a parent hoping to inspire your reluctant reader, picture books offer layered stories, rich vocabulary, and visual storytelling that invite curiosity and creativity.
A good picture book can model narrative structure, introduce complex themes, and open the door to writing activities like character letters, alternate endings, and comic-style retellings. For struggling readers, the illustrations provide context clues. For advanced readers, the deeper messages build inference and interpretation skills.
In short: picture books make reading and writing accessible, engaging, and joyful. Use them often—you’ll be surprised how much they unlock.
Reading Enrichment
Looking for a reading program that actually challenges your strong reader? You’re in the right place.
At School House Rap, our Reading Enrichment Program is designed for students in grades 3–5 who love to read—but need more than just silent reading time or basic comprehension questions. Many of our students are advanced readers who aren’t being fully challenged during their regular ELA block at school—and they’re ready for more.
Through engaging chapter books and graphic novels, students meet weekly (virtually or in person) to explore texts deeply, think critically, and write creatively.
Each month features a new high-interest book and four dynamic sessions that blend literature discussions, writing extensions, and hands-on projects. Whether it’s analyzing character motives, building alternate endings, or creating comic panels—your child will stretch their brain and build confidence in a joyful, low-pressure environment.
We’re here to challenge the kids who are ready for more.
Let’s turn reading time into something they truly look forward to.
