No kid becomes a tried-and-tested reader quickly. It begins from the first baby steps, often from a picture book.

It’s said that a picture book can help a kid read before they can read. “But, Hey?” — how could a kid read without reading?

Well, it’s all about sparking the imagination. Picture books ignite the first flame of creativity in young minds. That’s why every kid should read picture books daily during elementary school.

The building blocks of language

Picture books help kids associate letters with different items.

Before a child learns to read, they learn to associate letters with visual items — and that’s how the foundation of language is built.

Putting together the pieces

Words and sentences mean nothing if the child can’t put them together to comprehend their meaning. That’s where sequence and context come into play.

With the visual aid given in picture books, children learn to put together the beginning, middle, and end of a story and make sense of it. This eventually helps them understand stories better and even boosts their creativity in the longer run.

Sparking the love for literature

Every good reader starts reading from an early age. What was your favorite book in your childhood? Was it a serious philosophical book explaining the laws of this world, or was it a playful, colorful picture book? We’re pretty sure it’s the latter.

Picture books can lead children to love literature and make them fall for reading from an early age. And when that happens, it’s a massive advantage for them in their life.
