February 11th marks a very important day in history: National Inventors’ Day! President Ronald Reagan chose the date because it was Thomas Edison’s birthday. Without inventors, we really wouldn’t have anything in society. From a hammer to a gaming console, everything was invented at one time. However, if we think back in history, it is important to consider all that engineers had to do when technology was just being developed. Additionally, there is a special consideration for women in STEM and all they had to do to overcome gender stereotypes. Rosie Revere’s Picture Book Unit is an inspiring product that will show students how important it is to never give up!

Rosie Revere, Engineer
Rosie Revere always had big dreams. She loved creating something out of what others considered to be nothing. Therefore, she wanted to become an engineer but was shy and embarrassed due to an uncle laughing at her inventions. However, one inspirational family member helped show Rosie how failure is just one challenge on the path to achieving greatness.
With someone believing in her, Rosie learned to celebrate when something did not work out. She realized that failure allowed her to make something even better than her first invention! She began creating greatness out of odds and ends but was still too shy to show others. However, persistence showed Rosie to believe in herself and be proud of her work. Ultimately, the only way to fail is to give up. Rosie Revere is a role model who demonstrates kindness, compassion, and creativity.
